Skye Weinglass
After detecting a strong need for exhibition spaces more geared towards locals in her hometown of Aspen, Colorado, Skye Weinglass decided to venture into her own gallery space entitled 'The Bird's Nest'. Including a diverse collective of emerging and established artists, both local and global, the Bird’s Nest opened its doors to showcase artistic creations meant to inspire and empower the local community.
The main objective of the gallery, which is now rebranded as 'Skye Gallery', is to provide a well-curated space that serves as a platform to encourage self-expression, expand perception, spark inspiration, and provide wisdom. It is a pathway to honoring and growing the creative side of all individuals through contemporary artistic practices.
This gallery was originally curated in order to combine the two passions that Skye cares most about- community and art. Having grown up here in Aspen, she strives to maintain the creative spark and funky atmosphere that has been alive in this town for generations. Skye Gallery is not only a space for art, but also a healthy gathering space for the community. The artwork shown will be an assortment of paintings, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and drawings all showcasing unique and awakening artwork. The gallery will also sell local, handmade artisan crafts and jewelry. In addition, Skye Gallery will host educational workshops, dance and yoga classes, and live music and entertainment events.
Be sure to come stop by the opening of the newly rebranded Skye Gallery on June 8th in it's best location to date - 535 E. Cooper Ave (former Lil’ Boogie’s space). The exciting line-up this summer will feature well established female artists who are recognized on both a local and global scale.
